FAQ
What is the differences between hypnotherapy and hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a tool and hypnotherapy is the utilisation of that tool. Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process, which is applied by a professional mental health therapist such as a psychotherapist, psychologist or medical doctor. Hypnosis a process where suggestions are given to a person in a trance state.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
It sends us into a trance state. In this state, we are fully conscious but we block out most of the stimuli around us. What makes the trance state remarkable is the way connections are being made between the conscious and subconscious mind. While we are a trance state, the therapist can access our subconscious to help us better understand and recognise the reasons for our behaviours and address issues that manifest.
Is hypnotherapy effective? What does the science say?
Hypnotherapy is an evidenced-based mental and physical health treatment technique (Journal of Heart-Centred Therapies, 2010). During the process of hypnosis, the subconscious is instantly and easily accessible. Therefore, many therapists find hypnotherapy more effective and faster than talk therapy.
Is hypnosis dangerous?
Hypnosis is not dangerous. However, it should only be done by a well-trained therapist. Some people experience dizziness or dopiness for a short period after a session.
Can hypnosis force people to act against their will?
The short answer is, no. Hypnosis is not mind control, and therefore it does not take away free will. However, it is true that hypnosis makes people more suggestible and open to suggestion.
Is hypnosis like sleep?
Studies of brain activity have confirmed that hypnosis is not like sleep. Hypnotic states are associated with increased theta wave activity. Delta is the dominant brainwave when sleeping.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes everybody can be hypnotised–some people are more susceptible than others. Approximately 10% of the world population has low susceptibility.
How do you know if hypnosis worked?
The impact of hypnosis is seen in the degree that it affects direct change. For example, someone who undergoes in hypnosis to let go of anxiety will experience a significant decrease in anxiety after hypnosis.
How is coaching different to psychotherapy?

When we commit to personal growth though coaching, we can expect to see positiveresults in our productivity, sense of wellbeing–both professionally and personally–and we will reach goals and consistently meet targets.
